New York City Foot & Ankle Surgeon

New Yorkers have relied on Dr. Christopher Hubbard to treat their foot and ankle issues and injuries for more than 20 years. Winter or summer, rain or shine, New Yorkers do an incredible amount of walking. In fact, a few years ago, Fitbit named New York as the state with the most active residents in the U.S. These high levels of activity increase the likelihood of foot and ankle injuries, as well as issues related to overuse.

Whether you have recently suffered an injury or struggle with chronic issues, you know how much a problem with your foot or ankle can affect your ability to walk and engage in other daily activities. This can often have a negative impact on your quality of life. Dr. Christopher Hubbard, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over two decades of experience treating foot and ankle conditions, understands not only the complexity of the foot and ankle but also the very real effect these body parts have on his patients’ lives.

To restore normal functioning and mobility as quickly as possible, Dr. Hubbard combines his specialized training and experience with the latest innovations in surgical techniques to create an individualized treatment plan for each of his patients.

Surgical Procedures Performed by Dr. Hubbard in New York City

Foot Procedures

Far more than most people, New Yorkers depend on their feet to get from one place to another, as well as for maintaining balance. We typically put a great deal of weight on our feet throughout the day and, although this keeps us healthy in many other ways, it’s not uncommon for all of that walking we do to cause foot problems that require surgery. Dr. Hubbard routinely performs a wide variety of surgical procedures when other treatment options for foot pain fail to provide relief. These include:

  • Posterior Tibial Tendon Reconstruction
  • Lisfranc Injury Fixation
  • Hammertoe Correction
  • Cheilectomy for Hallux Rigidus
  • Sesamoidectomy
  • Foot Revision Surgery
  • Spring Ligament Repair
  • Bunion Correction
  • Neuroma Excision
  • Subtalar Fusion
  • Foot Fracture Fixation

Ankle Procedures

Slip and falls, sports and car accidents make injuries to the ankle extremely common. For New Yorkers, it’s all too easy to step off a curb the wrong way or twist an ankle hurrying down the stairs to catch the next train. While not all ankle injuries require surgery, some are severe enough to require surgical intervention. If surgery is required to correct your ankle injury, you need a well-trained and experienced foot and ankle surgeon to provide proper treatment. Dr. Hubbard is experienced in providing the following surgical procedures for ankle injuries:

  • Achilles Rupture Repair
  • Peroneal Tendon Repair
  • Ankle Arthroscopy
  • Ankle Fusion
  • Ankle Revision Surgery
  • Ankle Ligament Reconstruction
  • Achilles Reconstruction with FHL Tendon Transfer
  • Total Ankle Replacement
  • Ankle Fracture Fixation

Sports Procedures

Whether you are a professional athlete or weekend warrior in Central Park on Saturdays, injuries, particularly those involving the Achilles tendon, can occur. When the Achilles tendon is injured, it may tear or rupture, causing pain that makes it difficult to function. Typically, the most effective way to treat a tendon tear or rupture is through surgical repair. Dr. Hubbard is experienced in providing these surgical procedures for sports injuries:

  • Achilles Reconstruction with FHL Tendon Transfer
  • Peroneal Tendon Repair
  • Lisfranc Injury Fixation
  • Achilles Rupture Repair
  • Ankle Arthroscopy
  • Cheilectomy for Hallux Rigidus

Cartilage Repair

Cartilage is a smooth but vulnerable tissue that covers and protects the ends of our bones that form the joints of the foot and ankle. Cartilage can be damaged by traumatic injuries, chronic wear-and-tear, and inflammatory diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. Most often, the only way to repair damaged cartilage is through surgical intervention. Dr. Hubbard performs the following procedures for cartilage repair:

  • Fresh Osteochondral Allograft Transplantation
  • Bone Marrow Aspirate
  • Juvenile Allograft Transplantation
  • Bone Marrow Stimulation
  • Platelet Rich Plasma Treatment
